Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie — BMWi)

The Division Policy on Fairs and Exhibitions/EXPO Participations at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie — BMWi) is responsible for the German Pavilion at world exhibitions. The department also supports and makes decisions regarding official involvements that form part of the Federal Republic of Germany's foreign trade fair programme.

Supporting economic activity at home and abroad

In constant dialogue with its business partners, the Trade Fair Policy/Exhibition Participation department of BMWi supports the export activities of German companies in foreign markets and also deals with important political issues concerning domestic exhibitions.

Small and medium-sized companies make up more than 90 percent of the beneficiaries of the foreign trade fair programme. In addition to policy and budgetary issues, the department also plays a prominent role in shaping the way Germany is represented at trade fairs abroad.
